Why the business cares Leadership decides on Monday whether to cut the Q2 marketing budget or push harder on wholesale. If the number on the slide is wrong in either direction, they make the wrong call, and they stop trusting the BI team.

Q1 numbers for Monday

Hi, and welcome aboard! I know it's your first week, but I need your help.

Q1 felt slower than it should have. The ops export says we sold $274,539 in Q1, and last year's board deck had Q1 2025 at $232,235. That would be +18.2%, which is great, but my regional managers keep telling me March was flat or worse. Something doesn't add up.

For Monday's leadership meeting (9:00) I need to know: is Q1 revenue growth really slowing, where, and why? One slide, plus the dashboard behind it so I can answer follow-up questions.

Hey! The Q1 extract is in the shared folder (company/*.csv), same export the old dashboard used: orders, lines, returns, customers, products, regions, FX. Extracted this morning, 10 Apr.

Heads-up: the export job had a hiccup in March and we re-ran it. Should be fine 🤞. Prices are in the order currency; Europe sells in EUR.

Before you build anything, write down what "revenue" means for Jordan and get Jordan to agree to it. Last time someone used gross, Finance used net, and it was a mess.

And reconcile your total back to the raw file before Monday. I'll review on Sunday evening.

What you are expected to do

List the questions you would ask Jordan before building anything, and the definitions you will use if nobody answers by Sunday.
Profile the export before trusting it. Write down every rule you apply (what you exclude, fix or convert, and why).
Build a small star schema in Power BI Desktop and the measures you need.
Answer the question: is growth slowing, where, and why? Quantify the main drivers.
Build one executive page and write a three-sentence summary for Jordan's slide.
Reconcile: show how you get from the raw file's total to your total, adjustment by adjustment.

KPI dictionary for Gross Sales, Net Sales and YoY growth
